Contamination Testing – PCR or Agar Plating (Beer)

Package your beer in a can or bottle and have concerns about shelf stability? Is your packaged beer gushing, bulging or worse? Is a beer attenuating higher than planned or new off flavors appearing after the beer is done fermenting?

Get back to brewing with confidence after identifying or eliminating wild yeast and bacteria contamination as a potential issue!

PCR Testing: 1 Business Day Turnaround, or 3 Business Days Turnaround

Receive rapid genetic-based results to determine contamination from:

  • Saccharomyces var diastaticus
  • Acetic Acid Bacteria (AAB)
  • Brettanomyces
  • Hop-Resistant Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) [Some LAB are not hop-resistant but can still contaminate low or 0 IBU beer/wort]
  • Megasphaera
  • Pectinatus

All PCR tests receive complimentary additional agar plating to enumerate level of contamination and confirm viability of contaminants.

Agar Plating

Plate your samples on three unique selective or differential agar media. Bootleg Biology will use our extensive culture knowledge to help you determine contamination and problematic wild yeast and bacteria.
